If you have any familiarity whatsoever with Proodian Healthcare, you’ve probably heard me or someone from my staff talk about the Pyramid of Health. At the very least, you’ve heard us say something that indirectly refers to the Pyramid of Health and didn’t even realize it.
There’s a reason for this. The Pyramid of Health, pictured above, is at the core of everything we do. It motivates and inspires our thought processes and decision making. The Pyramid is what’s going through my head during every radio show, every blog, every speaking engagement and every appointment with a patient.
It’s the driving force behind all three components of Proodian Healthcare:
- Teach Me: Health literacy is the key to longevity. MyWellnessAtWork.com
- Treat Me: An integrated approach to health and wellness. NaturalHealthCareCenter.com
- Supply Me: An online store for pharmaceutical-grade supplements. PutBackWhatYouLack.com
Everything we do is designed to achieve the goal at the top of the Pyramid – feel better, function better, live longer. This is also the goal of every single one of our patients. After all, none of the thousands of patients I’ve met over the years have said they would rather live less years on the couch while taking a lot of medication.
So what does this goal really mean? It means being able to walk up and down stairs without labored breathing. It means being able to perform basic human functions that we discussed in previous blogs about at-home mirror tests (Part 1 and Part 2), like touching your toes, lunging, and scratching your back. It means doing what makes you happy and living as many quality, disease-free years as possible.
We take this goal very seriously. Personally, this is why I have pictures of my kids all over my office. I want to be here – but not just physically. I want to be able to run and play and do fun things for as long as possible.
Now I’m not naïve. I know we can’t control tragedy and trauma, and we never know when those kinds of unfortunate events may occur. But let’s say we are fortunate enough to avoid these types of events. Our daily activities – the next level on the Pyramid of Health – will determine whether or not we reach the goal at the top of the Pyramid.
We show you how to exercise, what to eat and how to temper stress. These daily activities – the choices you make every day – are aligned with the Triad of Health, the next level of the Pyramid, where decisions are made by our clinicians about how to blend the physical, nutritional and psychological aspects of health to reach the goal. This is a truly integrated approach to healthcare.
Key topics that affect the physical, nutritional and psychological components of our health are found on the next level of the Pyramid of Health. Healthcare vs. sick care, man-made substances that are toxifying us through our soil, air and water (environmental xenobiotics), industrial farming that’s taken place in our country over the last 100 years, the chronic illness epidemic – these are the topics that we constantly talk about.
These topics are also related to the Pyramid’s foundation. Most of society is fragmented and grossly misinformed about good health, so we whittle down the information to eight simplistic scientific points, which form the foundation of the Pyramid of Health. You can never move up the Pyramid unless you have at least a basic understanding of the foundation.
Let’s face it. The current approach to healthcare, and the mindset people have towards good health, just aren’t working. The Pyramid of Health is a way of thinking that I’m plastering on every wall of my practice in 30 x 30 canvas print because it explains an integrated approach to healthcare based on scientific fact – and it works.
Now it’s up to us to make the choice to take back our health. This is the year of the family, and the Pyramid of Health can help you and your loved ones achieve the goal of feeling better, functioning better, and living as many quality years as possible.
What do you feel is holding you back from reaching the top of the Pyramid?
